CD-Wom

a data security break through technology

Write-Only-Memory, or WOM, has previously only been available in expensive solid-state or tape systems. But thanks to the engineers at Idiotech International, the new CD-Wom standard will bring the enhanced security of WOM to a new generation of home computer users.

Idiotech's CDW-0 CD-Wom drive uses ordinary music CD's to store your valuable data. But unlike other removable media systems, which allow users to retrieve the data once it's written, the CD-Wom standard makes no provision for reading or playback. Thus, CD-Wom is the most secure data storage system. Once you store your data using the CDW-0, no one can ever retrieve it -- not even you!

Skeptics pointed out when the CD-Wom standard was being developed that beating all known encoding and encryption schemes hands-down was probably going to be an expensive proposition. But a consortium of engineers from Digidud, Megadolt, and Idiotech came up with a low-cost solution that brought the price on an entry-level drive down to an amazing $5. Dubbed the "disintegrated circuit", or DC, the new processor in every Wom drive features a 0-bit data bus, 0K on-board cache, an error rate of 100% and a clock speed of Omhz. And the CDW-0 is right on the upgrade path to the consortium's new PowerDC, which uses an information-theoretical breakthrough which brings the error rate over 100% using its innovative negative-16-bit bus.

The CDW-0 also introduces another significant cost-cutting breakthrough. Because no data ever needs to be retrieved, you don't need to buy special writable-CD-media when you use your CDW-0. You can store data directly on the music CD's you already own. Why doesn't this alter the music? Because according to the theory of information, the music CD's information content is already completely non-correlated with your data (unless, of course, you're trying to make pirate copies of music CD's), meaning that the CDW-0's job is already done before you put the disc in. The CDW-0 also features a manually-controlled front-loading mechanism -- there's no motor to mess around with -- and weighs an astonishing three ounces.

So forget about security problems and put your data where the sun doesn't shine -- the new CDW-0.
