Three Crying Pieces (2002)

Susan Parenti gave me the idea of "screaming pieces" that you write when the figure from the Munch painting isn't handy. There are lots of reasons to scream but only a few to cry, the main one being that hope for peace is dwindling. The pieces were made using bosch using as input a drawing made in OmniGraffle and two digital photographs of the ornate architecture of Paris's left bank, processed through various standard Photoshop filters. They trace the development of bosch; by louvre1b I had smoothed out the clipping resulting from sudden amplitude jumps at hard edges, which I had originally meant to keep. "bolga dodds" is "soft English" for "polka dots". -- M. Cepstral
