The House

Here's me walking up the front drive. The tree in
the foreground is on the lot. Here's the front of
the house. And here
are some flowers in the front yard.
The house faces east. On the north side of the
house is the "sun porch" which has its own exterior door which faces
W. French doors open from it to the living
room and an archway leads from there into the dining room (on the W
side of the house) which is also where we've hung
one of David's pantings. The front window
has a kind of window seat which is tiled. The two bedrooms on the
second floor have windows facing E/N and W/N, respectively. The only
other room on the second floor is the full bath with an S
window. There's a cool window box which
faces S and is right next to the front door. It sticks out about 6
inches from the house and has three shelves. A great place for growing
greens in the winter.
My friend Mike and I recently remodeled the space age (i.e. 1960's)
all-electric kitchen by replacing the range and oven with a gas one.
That sounds boring, but get this: we miscalculated the shape of the
kitchen and had to knock a hole in the side of the house with a
sledgehammer and construct a small stove-sized addition to the house.
Here's a step-by-step photo documentary
of the remodeling adventure.
How about a view of our house from space? This
image comes from USGS satellites by way of the Terra server.
The Pool and backyard
And aside from the deck the backyard is still
plenty big and has a couple of large trees in it including an apple tree. The pool
is 8 ft deep and 20 x 40. But alas, the diving board is broken.
